AI & Responsible Use Policy

Effective July 2026At Skillsminer, we believe artificial intelligence should enhance human decision-making, not replace it. This policy explains how we develop, deploy and use artificial intelligence responsibly across our website, products and services.

1. About Skillsminer

Skillsminer is the trading name of Skillz Miner Limited, registered in Scotland (Company Number SC594537), Stirling House, 226 St Vincent Street, Glasgow, G2 5RQ, Scotland. SkillsOps™ is the flagship Workforce Decision Intelligence platform developed and operated by Skillz Miner Limited.

2. Our AI Principles

  • Human-centred.
  • Transparent.
  • Responsible.
  • Secure.
  • Fair.
  • Accountable.
  • Privacy-first.
  • Continuously improving.

We believe AI should support people in making better decisions rather than replacing professional judgement.

3. How We Use AI

Skillsminer develops AI-enabled workforce decision intelligence technologies to help organisations understand the workforce implications of strategic change. Depending on the services being used, AI may assist with:

  • Analysing workforce information.
  • Identifying capability gaps.
  • Mapping skills and roles.
  • Generating workforce insights.
  • Scenario modelling.
  • Producing draft reports and summaries.
  • Supporting strategic workforce planning.
  • Recommending potential workforce interventions.
  • Improving productivity within our products.

AI is used to assist decision-making, not to make decisions on behalf of customers.

4. Human Oversight

Human expertise remains central to our products and services. AI-generated outputs should always be reviewed by appropriately qualified users before decisions are implemented. Customers remain responsible for decisions taken using information generated by SkillsOps.

5. Transparency

We aim to be transparent about how AI is used throughout our products and services. Where content has been generated or materially assisted by AI, we will seek to communicate this appropriately.

6. Accuracy and Limitations

Artificial intelligence can provide valuable insights but is not infallible. AI-generated outputs may occasionally contain inaccuracies, omissions or recommendations that require further validation.

  • AI outputs should be treated as advisory.
  • Important decisions should always be reviewed by people with appropriate knowledge and authority.
  • Customers should validate outputs using their own data, policies and expertise.

7. Fairness and Bias

We recognise that AI systems may reflect bias if not designed, tested and monitored responsibly. To help minimise this risk, we seek to:

  • Evaluate outputs regularly.
  • Continuously improve our models.
  • Incorporate human review.
  • Encourage customer validation.
  • Review AI-assisted recommendations for fairness and reasonableness where appropriate.

8. Customer Data

Protecting customer information is fundamental to our approach. Unless expressly agreed otherwise:

  • Customers retain ownership of their data.
  • Customer information is processed only for agreed business purposes.
  • Customer data is handled in accordance with applicable contractual commitments.
  • Access to customer information is restricted to authorised personnel.
  • Appropriate technical and organisational security measures are maintained.

Where third-party AI services are used, we seek to ensure they are deployed responsibly and in accordance with applicable contractual and legal requirements.

9. Privacy

Our use of artificial intelligence is supported by our commitment to privacy. Where personal information is processed, we do so in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection legislation.

10. Security

AI technologies are deployed using secure development practices and protected by appropriate technical and organisational controls — including role-based access controls, authentication, encryption where appropriate, secure cloud infrastructure, monitoring and logging, and ongoing security improvements.

11. Responsible Innovation

Artificial intelligence is evolving rapidly. We regularly review our technologies, governance processes and internal practices to ensure they continue to reflect recognised standards, customer expectations and emerging regulation.

12. Continuous Improvement

  • Improve transparency.
  • Enhance quality.
  • Strengthen security.
  • Reduce bias.
  • Improve customer outcomes.
  • Respond to changes in technology, regulation and industry best practice.
